Each year, the gas network tariffs are reviewed to ensure that Gas Networks Ireland (GNI) only recovers the necessary costs for efficient operation of the network. The CRU is publishing today, 04 June 2021, the tariffs for use of the gas transmission and distribution network during gas year 2021/22. The gas year 2021/22 runs from 01 October 2021 to 30 September 2022.
This year the transmission tariff paper for the gas year 2021/22 has been expanded to provide a single resource for all gas network transmission tariff related information, ranging from; how the CRU sets tariffs on an annual basis, the variables that cause changes in the tariffs from one year to the next, and the tariffs for the upcoming gas year. Previously this information would have been set out in a separate document relating to Article 30 of the Tariff Network Code.
This document group also contains the CRU’s work under Article 28 of the EU Tariff Network Code, i.e. review of multipliers, seasonal factors and discounts (e.g. discount for Virtual Reverse Flow). These items impact how the costs of the gas network are charged to shippers and may in turn impact on customers’ bills.
